What are the Posts in UPPSC?

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) is one of India’s toughest yet most rewarding exams. It allows young graduates to join the government of Uttar Pradesh. Candidates are recruited in various departments at the sub-divisional, district, divisional, and state levels. The posts under UPPSC are generally in departments such as Group A and Group B of the state services.

Every year, prior to the exam, the UPPSC publishes an official vacancy list to provide an estimate of selection and recruitment in the state government. The following is a list of various posts available through the UPPSC exam, along with the minimum educational qualification required:

UPPSC Exam Pattern

The Exam Pattern of the UPPSC Exam includes three stages:

  • Prelims: 2 Papers (Objective)
  • Mains: 8 papers (Essay/ Descriptive type)
  • Interview

  • Indian and World Geography- Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World
  • Indian Governance and Polity
  • Social and Economic Development
  • Environmental Ecology, Climate Change, and Biodiversity – general issues that do not require subject specialisation

  • Comprehension
  • Interpersonal skills (including communication skills)
  • Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making
  • General Mental Ability
  • Elementary Mathematics (class X level – Algebra, Statistics, Geometry and Arithmetic):
