Category 6 Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP)
Category 6 UTP is a type of unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable that was developed and created for Ethernet transmission at 10/100 Mbps speeds. These cables are primarily used for local area networks (LAN), however, they may also be used for building wiring. cat6 network cabling UTP is only available in metric sizes and uses Type-A connectors.
Cat 5e UTP
Cat 5e UTP is a type that is similar to cat6 network cabling UTP, except it is designed to operate at 100 Mbit/s speeds. Cat 5e UPT is commonly used for high-speed LAN connections that need to be able to sustain 10 Gbit/s speeds. When using cat 5e UTP, standard RJ45 connectors are used.
CAT 6 UTP
Cat6 Network Cabling is a newer version of the UTP cable and is generally considered to be superior to the older versions. CAT 6 UTP is capable of 500 Mb/s speeds, making it ideal for Gigabit Ethernet and faster networking applications. Cat 6 UTP can operate over distances up to 100 meters without any problems. However, it’s not supported in the USA unless it is specifically approved by the FCC.
CAT 7 UTP
CAT 7 UTP is the newest version of UTP cable. Cat 7 UTP is capable of 1 Gb/s speed and is the best way to transmit data at gigabit speeds. This version of UTP is widely accepted throughout the industry and is compatible with both RJ 45 and RJ 50 connectors.
