Choosing a Business Name

Congratulations! You’ve finally decided to start your own business after years of fantasizing about being your own boss and signing your own paycheck. Who can blame you in this day and age?

It’s a safe bet you’re excited about all the new opportunities that await you, and you probably have a plethora of ideas to put to use. That’s also a good thing, because you’ll soon find yourself with a seemingly never-ending list of tasks to complete the liberty writers. Of course, all of them are important, but there is one task in particular that you should prioritize: a name.

What Does a Name Mean?

Believe it or not, choosing a name for your company is one of the most important decisions you’ll make in the first few months. What you ultimately decide to call your new company will influence how your customers perceive you, whether you’re fun-and-funky or seriously serious the liberty writers. It is critical to select a name that conveys the “feel” of your product or service as well as the “texture” of your brand identity.

That’s fantastic if you already have a name in mind. Don’t worry if you don’t; it might actually save you time. Consider this: your company will require a website. A domain name will be required for that website. Ideally, your domain name should be the same as your company name.

Assume you’ve decided to call your new venture “Super Deluxe Widget Store.” You order business cards, pay for a listing in the yellow pages, and then get to work on your website the liberty writers. However, when you go through the domain registration process, you discover that superdeluxewidgetstore-dot-com already exists.

I don’t have to tell you how that will feel.

Preventing an Identity Crisis

So, how do you avoid such a catastrophe? Simple: before settling on a name for your company, check its availability as a domain name. It’s possible that your first choice is still available, which is fantastic, but it’s more likely that your first choices have already been claimed. It can be depressing, especially if you’re just getting started. However, it is not the end of the world.

To alleviate your frustration, grab a pen and a piece of paper and begin brainstorming every possible name for your company. You’ll be tempted to leave out the “bad” ideas, but include them as well. So-called “bad” ideas can frequently spark a breakthrough. Just keep writing until you’ve come up with at least 25 names. And, yes, variations are allowed. The concepts of “Super Duper Books” and “Super Duper Book Store” are distinct.

Now that you’ve completed that, take a break. Place your list somewhere out of sight for a few days the liberty writers. Focus your attention on other things for a while, and then go back and re-read your list. Underline or highlight the names you like. Make a list of any other ideas that come to you. Have some fun with it!

When you’re ready, go to your favourite domain registration service and begin testing your list of potential business names. If one that you like is available, register it. If you don’t, you might return a day or two later to find that your competitor has taken it.

On the other hand, if none of the available names appeal to you, don’t settle. After all, this is your company. Simply return to step one and begin again. Create a new list the liberty writers. Make up some new names. Try a different search. Repeat as needed.

Reserves should be called in

It can be time-consuming. It’s worthwhile, but if it sounds like too much work or you can’t think of any names that really appeal to you, consider hiring a professional copywriter to assist you. After all, that’s what copywriters are for putting the right words together.

Whatever method you use, whether it’s sheer willpower or professional copywriting assistance, make sure you prioritize selecting a business name that can be registered as a domain. You’ll be glad you did in the long run. A clear, consistent business the liberty writers identity boosts credibility and increases market impact significantly. And, after all, would a business by any other name function the same way?
