Solutions Home Appliances Repair Services Dishwasher Drain

When you last time came to know that your home appliances repair services (dishwasher) not draining completely? Although your first thought may be that the dishwasher needs repair or replacement, the problem could be with the plumbing and not the machine.

If the water from the dishwasher encounters a blockage on its way to the drain pipe, it will have nowhere to go and will flow back into the dishwasher. After checking the plumbing and ruling out this possibility, it’s time to look at the machine itself.

It is normal for some dishwashers to have a small amount of water at the bottom of the tub after a complete cycle. If you have just a little water in your machine, check the owner’s manual (or call the manufacturer) to see if it’s by design.

Full Plumbing Check

Make sure the sink is draining. If your sink doesn’t drain well, the dishwasher won’t drain either.

Control Trash Disposal

In most cases, the dishwasher drain hose connects to the garbage disposal. When there food in the grinder, or when the grinder clogs, there is less space for dishwasher water. Run the grinder at full speed with plenty of water to flush it out.

Note: If you have just fitted new grinder, make sure the socket inside the nipple that accepts the dishwasher drain hose drilled out. New filers have small plastic discs covering the drain opening. The disc must punctured with a hammer and a screwdriver. The disc just falls into the grinder’s grinding chamber, and you have to fish it out.

Clean the Air Gap

It’s the small cylinder (usually chrome) on the back edge of the kitchen sink. If water comes out of the air hole (and sometimes all over the counter) when you run the dishwasher, the blockage is between the air gap and the garbage disposal. To clear it, remove the air gap cap and clean it inside the air gap. Then disconnect the hose.

Checking The Dishwasher

Make sure there is nothing blocking the drain screen at the bottom of the dishwasher tub. Clear plastic covers, glass, labels, and pieces of plastic can cover the drain and could hard to see unless you look closely.

Clean The Dishwasher Filter

Dishwashers can have a variety of filter designs. Some have a simple screen, some have removable filters under the screen, and some require removing the lower spray arm for thorough cleaning.

Check Your Dishwasher Drain

This is usually a corrugated plastic tube and is connected to the bottom of the dishwasher (behind the kick panel under the dishwasher door) and to the air gap, grinder, or sink, depending on your setup.

Turn off the dishwasher by unplugging it or disconnecting the dishwasher circuit breaker. Remove the protective panel, then loosen the hose clamp securing the drain hose to the dishwasher pump. Have a rag handy for any overflowing water.

Clean the end of the hose, then blow into it. If the hose is clogged and you cannot blow it out, remove the clamp on the other end and clean or replace the hose.

If you’ve tried all of the fixes above and the dishwasher still won’t drain, there are several parts of the home appliances repair services (dishwasher) that could at fault. For this, it is better to let a professional home appliances repair services expert for your dishwasher. He will able to detect the source in order to provide a reliable and effective solution.
