Some dogs have plenty of energy and are great for active owners. There are numerous placid dog breeds who are delighted to snooze on the sofa with you.

1. THE FRENCH BULLDOG IS A DOCILE AND LOVABLE BREED OF DOG.
As the second Most chill dog breeds in the United States, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC), French bulldogs are right on the heels of Labrador retrievers (also included on our list of quiet dogs!).
They are silly, intelligent, loyal, and need plenty of care from their hoomans, making them ideal best companions for everyone from the elderly to the young to those who live in apartments. Wow, look at those ears!
2. THE STANDARD POODLE IS A POPULAR, QUIET, HYPOALLERGENIC DOG.
If the standard poodle didn’t have so many endearing qualities, there wouldn’t be as many oodle crossbreeds. The poodle is an excellent family pet since it is smart, calm dog breeds, loving, playful, and hypoallergenic (as much as any dog can be, at least!).
To live to his full potential, he may need more activity than generally laid-back canine breeds.
3. A CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIEL, A SMALL, PLACID DOG.
If you look into her eyes, you’ll know this little puppy is the sweetest thing ever. A Cavalier King Charles spaniel has a warm personality and loves to snuggle. She’s a lap dog through and through, and although she loves going on walks and playing fetch as much as any other dog, she really just wants to spend most of her time cuddled up next to you.
4. BASSET HOUND, A PEACEFUL MEDIUM-SIZED DOG
The basset hound is a friendly and outgoing medium-sized canine with long, floppy ears.
She’s one of the Most chill dog breeds you’ll meet; don’t be fooled by her glum appearance; she’ll come alive in your continuous company, particularly if you play to her strengths by training her in scent work and then letting her wind down with a nice long snooze after each “exercise.”
5. BREED OF LARGE DOG KNOWN FOR EASE, THE IRISH WOLFHOUND
Although you may not want a manor house, the calm Irish wolfhound would appreciate some fenced-in yard area. Because of his most chill dog breeds and friendly nature with kids, he often appears on lists of the most laid-back dog breeds. However, he is a huge dog, standing at least 2 feet tall and weighing over 100 pounds, so he needs early socialization and training to show his finest side.
6. SAINT BERNARDS ARE LARGE, GENTLE DOGS.
The dependable Saint Bernard might be a fantastic option if you have a large yard and kids asking for a dog. This big fur ball of love is one of the most laid-back dog breeds, and she is so loving, good-natured, and patient that she would be a fantastic companion for your children on their many excursions.
The fact that she doesn’t need a lot of vigorous activity makes her a good candidate for walking companionship with elderly people who like strolls in woodland areas.
7. XOLOITZCUINTLI ARE PEACEFUL, NON-SHEDDING DOGS.
The stunning Xoloitzcuintli has the added benefit of requiring little to no maintenance due to her hairless or short, flat coat. The Xolo (show-low) is a breed of dog native to Mexico. Pronounced show-low-itz-QUEENT-ly, this dog is a calm and attentive companion that enjoys daily walks, a game of fetch, and plenty of attention.
8. THE NEWFOUNDLAND IS THE IDEAL LARGE, MELLOW FAMILY DOG.
The Newfoundland is perfect if you were hoping for another large, docile dog on our list. Newfoundland’s, or “Newfs,” are massive, hairy dogs that may weigh up to 200 pounds and reach 3 feet tall.
These most chill dog breeds hardworking canines like being outside and are by no means slackers. Newfs are loving and patient, so they can put up with a lot of noise.
9. BULLDOG IS A CALM, LOW-BARKING BREED.
The English bulldog is a terrific pup because he’s a roly-poly ball of affection and he seldom barks. Good news for apartment dwellers who want a goofy, relaxed dog that may or may not share the sofa. Kid-friendly, train him early and wash his face!
10. EASY-GOING DOG GOLDEN RETRIEVER: LOVEABLE
Golden retrievers’ cheerful dispositions match their beautiful coats. How many dogs sing with wind chimes? The clever and sweet-natured golden considers herself a member of your family and likes cats, other dogs, bunnies, Amazon delivery people, and your next-door neighbor.
11. GREYHOUND: SUPER CHILL
Greyhounds have a laidback disposition that contradicts their running ability. This friendly, lanky dog likes cuddling and sniffing walks. If you want to adopt a rescued greyhound, remember he’ll require more love, training, and care.
12. LABRADOR RETRIEVER: MOST CALM DOG
The AKC’s most chill dog breeds has been the Labrador retriever for 30 years. Why? A Lab is a faithful buddy for all ages and a terrific blend of energetic curiosity and “cuddle by the fire” togetherness. Calm temperament is one of a Lab’s many appealing qualities.
13. PUGS ARE SURPRISINGLY QUIET.
Many don’t consider pugs peaceful since they may be naughty. Pugs love their owners and demand the same attention. This makes them placid, snuggly, and friendly. They shed, so get a brush.
