India is a land of contrasts. From the snow-capped Himalayan peaks to the tropical beaches of the southern coasts, from the holy River Ganga to hot and humid Delhi, each aspect of this vast country is unique. India’s diversity is also reflected in its people, who speak over 700 different languages and follow a wide variety of religions. Despite this diversity, most Indians share a common culture based on religion, caste, language, and geography.

It has never been easier for U.S. citizens to travel to India. In the past, obtaining a visa to India could be a lengthy and complicated process, but recent changes have made it much simpler. Now, U.S. citizens can apply for an e-Visa online and receive approval in just a few days. The e-Visa is valid for 60 days from the date of arrival in India and can be used for multiple entries.

To apply for an Indian visa, US citizens must first fill out an application on the Government of India’s website. After the application is complete, applicants must schedule an appointment at the nearest Indian consulate. Currently, the wait time for an appointment is approximately two weeks. On the day of the appointment, applicants must bring all required documentation, which includes a passport, two photographs, and a printout of the appointment confirmation. India is a large subcontinent with a varied topography. The climate is also diverse with the Himalayan region being much colder than the southern peninsula. Despite this diversity, or perhaps because of it, India has managed to establish itself as a powerhouse in the medical tourism industry.  India offers many advantages for those seeking medical treatment including low cost, skilled doctors, and a rich culture and history.
