How to draw a vulture. When you think of unique bird species, you think of colorful and exotic wannabes or graceful vampires like eagles and aggressors. Vultures are neither colorful predators nor apex predators, but they are still impressive on their own. They sometimes get a bad rap due to eating the offal of other animals, but they are still impressive in size and appearance. It can cause learning to draw a vampire a fun and special challenge. If this is a challenge you’d like to take on, you’ve come to the right place!

Our step-by-step guide on drawing a vulture in just six easy steps will show you how fun and easy it can be. Drawing a Vulture:

Step 1:

In this first step of our guide on drawing a vulture, we will focus on the head, neck, and beginning of the vulture’s body. First, draw its small, curved, pointed beak before adding a small eye near it. Wolves are known for their extended crooked necks; we’ll remove that now. Start by drawing curved lines for the outline of the head, then draw the bent neck behind. You can add some small line details to make the collar a little lighter. Draw a few more curved lines for the start of the body; then, you can move on to step 2!

Step 2:

We’ll add more details to the body for the second step of your vulture drawing. First, add a few rows of curved lines with pointed tips for a few feathers inside the body. Then add more pointed lines on the upper body for more feathery detail. Finish the final body outlines in the reference image, and then you can continue with step 3 of the guide.

Step 3:

Continuing with this guide on drawing a vulture, we will add more details on the body and the legs. First, add a few more rows of curved lines with pointed tips for more rows of feathers. These will also extend to the rear of the fenders. Next, we will draw the legs of the vulture. The legs will have a soft base that you can draw with more curved lines; then, you can use softer lines for the skinny legs. Be sure to add the claws on the feet, then finish by drawing lines inside the legs.

Step 4:

You are now ready to complete the bird in this step of your vulture drawing. The main aspect we will add in this step is the feathers at the end of the wings. You can draw them using even more gently curved lines with sharper tips. Be sure to fill in any remaining gaps; then, you’ll be ready to start adding some final details and stuff in the next step of the guide!

Step 5:

This fifth step of our guide to drawing a vulture will allow you to add the final element to the image. You’ll also have the option to add your ideas and details to finish it! For now, we’ll draw some wood on which the vulture sits. Use smooth, curved lines to outline the wood, then add wavy line details inside for added texture. Then it’s up to you to add whatever extra details you want to the image! Can you add a background or draw more birds and animals along with the vulture? Be sure to have fun and see what you come up with!

Step 6:

Vultures aren’t very colorful birds, but there are still plenty of ways to get color variety in your drawing. The main color you’ll see in a vulture will be brown, but you can keep the colors more distinctive by using different shades.

Make your vulture drawing even better!

After you finish these tips, you won’t need to look for more tips for your vulture sketch! If you see a vulture in real life, you’ll know that they usually hang around in large groups. For this reason, you can make this drawing of a vulture more realistic by adding more vultures. These groups of vultures can get quite large, so you can add as many vultures as you want! It’s up to you and how patient you are, so how much do you think you would like? While vultures feed, they are often surrounded by other scavengers or animals. You could show this aspect by adding more African animals to this scene.

For scavengers, you can add hyenas looking for the same carcass that this vulture would want. It could include zebras, gazelles, or a few giraffes. These are just a few examples, but what other animals could you add to this wildlife scene? Continuing from our previous tip, you can also enhance this vulture drawing by adding a background to complete the scene. It would be especially nice if you added more wild animals. An African savannah is a beautiful place with lots of variety, so you’ll be spoiled for choice.

If you need inspiration, you can find images of African landscapes to use as your background. What kind of decor would you like to create with decor? Going back to the vulture sketch, you can change some details to make it more unique. It would also be nice if you added more vultures to the scene, as we suggested in the first tip. However, even if you only want one vulture in the picture, you can still make changes, such as spreading its wings or turning its head to a different angle. What other changes could you make?

Your vulture drawing is complete!

While it may not be the most outrageous bird species, there are still plenty of details and proportions to work out when drawing. I made sure that taking these details would be fun and easy by breaking them down into smaller, more manageable steps. Hopefully, we succeeded in this regard! When you’ve finished that picture, there are still ways to keep it fun. You can draw a background, add a few more details, or even draw more animals to get some extra ideas.
