How to Draw A Pretzel

How to Draw A Pretzel. Often the food is known for its visual complexity or great taste, but it won’t necessarily excel in both. However, some types of food fit both descriptions.

The pretzel is one of them, as it is known as a tasty savory snack and is famous for its distinctive curvaceous design. However, this twisty design can also make learning how to draw a pretzel quite difficult. Fortunately, this tutorial is in front of you to make it much easier!

How to Draw A Pretzel

Step 1

As mentioned in the introduction to this guide to drawing a pretzel, this is a popular snack for its intricate design. This can make it daunting to take on the challenge of learning how to draw it, but we’re going to break it down into smaller steps to make it much easier.

We’ll start things off simply for this first step. To start, you must draw a curved line that creates a long rounded shape pointing to the left. This shape has a gap at the top that later connects to other parts of the pretzel. It might be hard to see how this shape affects the pretzel design, but it will soon become clearer!

Step 2

To continue this pretzel design, let’s add another small section to the design. To do this, we drew another rounded shape with a curved line. This extends from the side of the section you drew in the previous step to the right side of the page.

Please do your best to draw these lines exactly as they appear in our reference image, as their position is very important when adding more pretzels.

Step 3

With the center drawn, now, in this step of our how-to draw a pretzel guide, let’s start drawing one of the top sections. We’ll also draw one of the lower sections, so let’s start with that. You can draw this bottom section with two curved lines under the two sections you drew in the first two steps. Next, we draw a larger pretzel ring for the top part.

This extends near the edge of the part that sticks to the right. It will extend upwards and outwards before connecting near the center of the design. This can get tricky, but if you do it slowly and follow the image closely, you should be able to complete this step with no problems!

Step 4

In this step of the pretzel design, you’ll add another large ring of pretzels. The next loop goes to the left, mirroring the top right loop you just drew.

This means it starts near the section pointing to the left and goes up and down to join near the middle. Once you complete this section, you’ve completed all the difficult parts! In the next step, we will add some final details to bring this image to life.

Step 5

Now that the outline of this food is complete, we can complete it with some final details in this next step of our guide on how to draw a pretzel! Pretzels often have small sesame seeds and grains of salt on their surface, and now we’ll draw those details. For these seed details, draw small teardrop shapes on the pretzel surface.

You can add more if you want! Adding small round shapes also allows you to depict grains of salt on the surface. Once you’re done, you can take this design further by adding an interesting background. That way, you could show what other foods you would like to enjoy with that pretzel.

Step 6

Now that this image’s details and elements are complete, feels free to add some color to complete this pretzel design! Because of the ingredients that make up pretzels and how they are cooked, they are usually a darker brown.

This is the color scheme we used in our reference image, but while we kept mostly brown, we were able to create a definition by changing the hues used.
