During a recent meeting, the FBISD Board of Trustees voted to adopt a policy that would allow students with special needs to participate in sports. In addition, the Board decided to close all schools in the district due to heavy snowfall and other severe weather.
Special education students

We offer a variety of services for students, including online learning, distance education, and traditional face-to-face instruction. With this in mind, we’ve compiled a list of everything you need to know about FBISD Skyward family access.
Our mission is to provide the best educational opportunities to all students. In addition to the traditional curriculum, our special education department also offers supplemental measures to ensure that every child gets the chance to succeed. We strive to offer services that will help students succeed and become contributing members of the community.
The Fort Bend Independent School District Special Education Department provides several special education services for students with disabilities. These include early childhood special education, in-class support, and supplemental measures. In addition, our Special Education Department also helps to facilitate communication between the school and the student’s family.
Fine arts
Providing students with artistic opportunities is one of the goals of the Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD) Department of Fine Arts. In addition to promoting advocacy, the department will develop artistic programs that meet the needs of a diverse population.
The Fine Arts Department provides instruction in visual arts, theatre, and music. These classes are designed to help students develop artistic skills and appreciate the artwork of other students. Students may also participate in local and state competitions. The visual arts curriculum focuses on self-expression and problem solving skills.
The Department of Fine Arts serves students at all grade levels. The department’s goal is to provide a high quality education in fine arts, while developing creative and social skills that will help students reach their full potential.
Athletics
Whether you are a Fort Bend alumnus or have been fortunate enough to attend a Fort Bend school, you may have heard of the FBISD. The organization consists of 14 high schools and one middle school. It is home to some of the best athletes in Texas, and is dedicated to equal access for all. Its athletic offices are located at 16403 Lexington Blvd., Richmond, TX 77408, but you can also drop by their offices at any time.
There are many ways to get involved with the FBISD. For starters, there are numerous events, games, and activities that you can participate in. The best place to start is by attending a home game or two. You can also purchase tickets to events that are not in your district.
Board of trustees
During the FBISD School Board Election on May 7, 2019, voters will select new School Board members for positions 6, 7, 8, and 9. All voters in the District are eligible to vote for candidates in these positions. Early voting begins April 25 and ends May 3. Approximately three days before the election, voters will receive a ballot with their election information.
There are a variety of reasons why voters might choose to vote for a candidate. In addition to the candidate’s experience, voters will also consider the candidate’s commitment to education. For instance, voters will consider candidates who have been involved in advocacy or volunteerism. In addition, voters may consider candidates who have experience working with the Thurgood Marshall High School feeder pattern.
In addition to voting for candidates, voters can also consider their preferences in regards to the Board of Trustees. In the past, voters have chosen candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to education, safety, and equity in the District.
School closures due to severe weather
Several school districts in the Houston area have closed campuses for Friday, February 4. The main concern is the safety of the students. Some districts also cancelled after-school activities.
Several local school districts have text message alert systems and offer parents a list of notifications to give them the information they need. These districts include Clear Creek ISD, Houston ISD, Lamar CISD, and Katy ISD.
ALVIN ISD has a “bad weather” list that includes a few of the district’s schools. The official school calendar includes two “bad weather days” built into it. It’s not uncommon for a school district to delay the start of school for a day or two. The official school calendar also contains a list of “bad weather” notifications for parents.
The FBISD has a “severe weather” hotline (281) 634-INFO (4636). They also have a “secular weather” alert on their website. The district has also implemented a standard response protocol, which is endorsed by the Texas School Safety Center.
