Electronics Driver | Learn Its Significance in LED Industry Advancement

LED drivers work the same way as low-voltage bulb transformers or fluorescent lamp ballasts. They make sure that LEDs get the power they need to work well and at a high level. Now that you know if your LED light needs an external electronic driver and, if so, what kind, you need to figure out what specifications you need to think about when buying an electronics driver. Before making a choice, here are some things to think about.

Since light-emitting diodes came along, the lighting industry has changed quickly and well (LED). Almost every other kind of light source, like CFLs, filament bulbs, and halogens, has been replaced by it. LED is the best choice for lighting both inside and outside because it is the most cost-effective, long-lasting, and high-quality option. Do you know what could cause that to happen? The answer is hidden among the many options that electronic drivers provide. Let’s take a quick look at what these drivers are and what they do.

How to Get Started with Electronic Drivers

Most electronics you buy at the store have something called a “semiconductor chip” in them. The function of these chips is to act as drivers. Drivers are the parts that link a software interface to the hardware. The purpose of these drivers or circuits is to control other circuits or important parts, like stepper motors, LCD displays, and high-power transistors.

The biggest needs on the market right now are LED display drivers, peripheral drivers, IGBT drivers, and motor drivers.

Responsibilities of Electronics Driver

A driver for electronics is made to do more than one thing so that the R&D process can go faster and better. Here is a list of things that an electronics driver often does: –

  • No matter what the load is, make sure there is enough voltage.
  • It should work correctly and not cause a short circuit.
  • Provide sufficient voltage levels
  • There should be enough current levels for the current to come from.
  • The current should be able to go down.

➤ Use of electricity

When we talk about how much power something uses, we have to think about three important things: the voltage output, the voltage input, and the maximum wattage. First, think about how much voltage your light needs. If your bulb needs 12 volts to work, use an electronic driver for 12 volts. If it needs 24 volts, use a pin electronic driver for 24 volts, and so on.

To scale down to the right output voltage level, our LED driver needs to know the input voltage of where your light will be placed. Most industrial and commercial places use 277 volts, but if you’re not sure, it’s best to ask a professional.

Pick a driver that can handle more watts than your bulb. Use an Electronics driver with a light that uses less than half of the maximum wattage of the driver or a light that uses more than the maximum wattage of the driver.

➤ Power load

The last important thing to think about is how strong your driver is. The power factor shows how much power the electronic driver really puts on the electrical system. The value of the power factor is between -1 and 1.

➤ Efficiency

The efficiency is given as a percentage, which shows how much of the power that goes into the driver can be used to power the LED. Most drivers are between 80 and 85% efficient, with UL Class 1 drivers that can power more LEDs being more efficient.

Once you understand these technical details of electronics drivers, it won’t be hard to start a successful LED business. Just make sure that the ATE testing equipment supplier has a good reputation.
